Dr. Kathryn Golden

Dr. Kathryn Golden is a northern Illinois native. Her passion for horses took her to William Woods University in Fulton, MO where she studied Equestrian Science. She then attended the University of Illinois, College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating with honors. Following veterinary school she completed a rigorous equine internship at Carolina Equine Hospital, a state of the art clinic in Greensboro, NC.

Her professional interests include ophthalmology, dentistry, preventative medicine, and minor surgeries. She is an active member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP), and other premier veterinary groups.

From an early age when she began riding through the park district, her passion for horses has only grown. She still enjoys time with her own eventing horse, Spider, who she has had for nearly 15 years. Kathryn’s other interests are cooking, hiking, and spending time with her fiancé Ryan, family, and friends. She is often accompanied by her faithful canine partners, Mazi and Cora.

Hali Kaelin – Veterinary Assistant

Hali has been passionate about horses from a very early age. She started her lifelong equine career riding at the age of seven, becoming a working student at a show barn by the age of nine. From assisting the vets and farriers, to teaching lessons, guiding trails and managing barns, she has always pursued any and every opportunity to continue learning from and about horses. Hali has a degree in fine arts and frequently chooses horses as her subject matter for paintings. She enjoys the outdoors, from swimming and fishing to playing polo. She also grooms four polo ponies during the season.

Dr. Laurel A. Meininger (Provides Shared Emergency Coverage)

Dr. Laurel Meininger grew up in Omaha, NE. She received her B.A. from Colorado State University before moving to Ames, IA and receiving her DVM degree with honors from Iowa State University. Following graduation, Dr. Meininger completed a rigorous one-year hospital internship at Kendall Road Equine Hospital in Elgin, IL.

Dr. Meininger has a passion for horses of all disciplines and grew up riding on the hunter/jumper show circuit. Her veterinary interests include sports medicine, dentistry, preventative care, and emergency/critical care cases. Dr. Meininger strives to remain up-to-date in the veterinary and equine communities and is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the Illinois Equine Practitioners Association, and the United States Equestrian Federation.
